I finally remembered this before Wednesday!
WWW Wednesday was originally hosted by MizB at A Daily Rhythm before moving to Taking on a World of Words.
What are you currently reading?
What did you recently finish reading?
What do you think you’ll read next?
I am currently reading Three Women by Lisa Taddeo. As always I am late to the party but this time I am glad I made it. I honestly had no idea what this book was about, only that it is a work of non-fiction. I am about 60 pages in and I am BLOW. THE. FUCK. AWAY. If you have been living in a cave as I apparently have been it is a book about, you got it, three women. All of their stories completely different. The book opens up with the author talking about her mother and how when her mother would walk from her home to her job in Italy there would be an “old” man that would walk behind her masturbating to her. Go ahead and re-read that last sentence. I could not believe that either when I started reading the book. And when her mother tried telling the police about it they told her the old man was harmless and he was lucky to even be able to get it up still. Yeah. After only the introductions to this women I realized just how fucked up we are as not only women but society. We have to do better. I am also currently reading American Predator: The Hunt for the Most Meticulous Serial Killer of the 21st Century by Maureen Callahan. I am listening to that on audio book and I have about two hours left of it. Without spoiling too much, it is a book about a serial killer by the name of Israel Keyes. Never heard of him? Me either. This dude would get on a plane, cross the country for legitimate reasons then drive hundreds of miles away and kill random people before heading back home to Alaska. Yes, I read multiple books at a time, all in different formats, last but not least I am also currently reading Stillness it the Key by Ryan Holiday. This one has kind of taken aback burner to the other two. Stillness is the Key is about something I have been actively trying to practice this year which is the concept/idea that we need to slow down.
I recently finished The Roanoke Girls by Amy Engel which I really enjoyed. It is a book about a fucked-up family in Kansas where at some point all the daughters either kill themselves or run away. When Lane, one of the granddaughters goes to live with her grandparents after her mother killed herself she eventually discovers what causes all the girls to leave and she herself takes off. Lane is forced to return when she gets word that her cousin is missing. While home Lane exposes the family’s secrets to the world. (REVIEW)
Oh man, what I think I’ll read next, the options are all over the place. I currently have two books checked out from the library, The Only Plane in The Sky and The Obstacle is The Way. There was a complete Barnes and Noble Cafe impulse buy, The Similars. And in the mail on it’s way to me is Things No One Else Can Teach Us. I think the only definite for me right now is my next audio book, which will be Maybe You Should Talk to Someone.
Now back to editing my first VLOG because I thought that would be a good idea last week. I’m already cringing looking at the footage. To those of you that do this on a regular – kudos!
