Operation Varsity Blues

Sad.

The whole thing is just sad.

You essentially have all the money in the world and you have kids. You are in a position to give your kids literally everything and what you give them is an education they did not earn. An education they deserved, but did not deserve to earn unauthentically. You took opportunities away from kids who put their blood, sweat and tears into their school work for just a CHANCE to attend some top name schools.

You had the world by it’s balls and this is what you did with your power. With your privilege.

Now you have a criminal record and had to surrender your passport. Your kids were forced to withdraw from those schools you paid for them to get into. You no longer have a job. Your kids no longer have their presumed side hustles.

I hope it was worth it.

Was it worth it?

I’m a parent. I get it. You want to do what is best for your kid. You want your kid to have the best… but at what cost I wonder.

The things these parents did, while illegal, serve as a bigger disadvantage to their children then by letting them presumably fail. These kids never learned how to fail. They never learned how to pick themselves up after they have fallen in all of these years. And now, as young adults they are falling for the first time. Mommy and daddy can not help them now. No one can.

As a parent, I would rather see my kids fall and get back up then to hold them up all their lives. No one learns anything by having everything handed to them.

Is it not the point of parenting to raise these little people to be responsible, functioning members of society. To teach them. To teach them to do better; to be better…
