Month: February 2019

I earned this.

Thank you internet. Once again you summed up how I have been feeling. I could not figure out why I have felt so weird about reaching a goal I did not know I had. For achieving something I had no idea I was working for. For doing my job, and doing it well. I did … Continue reading I earned this. →

Won’t You Be My Neighbor?

Even if you were born after Mr. Rogers passed away; you know who he is. Kids today are more familiar with Daniel Tigers Neighborhood. (Is that even still on?) I was one of those kids that grew up watching Mr. Rogers Neighborhood. As a child watching his show on PBS I really had no idea … Continue reading Won’t You Be My Neighbor? →

Said my coworker... I love the library and my kindle; my “home library” is actually quite small... - #bookwormproblems 🖤📚🐛🤓
“I’d been there for Mia, but I needed someone to hold my hand, be there for me. Sometimes mothers need to be mothered too. Crying meant admitting defeat. It felt like my body and mind gave up. I did everything I could to avoid that feeling. An inability to stop crying was my fear. Of gasping for air. Of the way my mind tricked me into thinking I might die. Crying like that, in that bathtub, felt almost the same, like I had lost myself in that uncontrollable way needed for my body to release. With all the things swirling around me I had no control over, I could, at the very least, control my reactions to them. If I started to crying every time something hard or horrible happened, we’ll, I’d just be crying all the time.” @stepville - This book reminded me why I read - to educate myself! 💛 Eye. Opening. Beautiful. . . . #bookstagram #maidbook #februaryread #libraryfind #overduelibrarybook
Thankful I decided to listen to this book. 🎧 I’d recommend it but I don’t know if most people will understand how important this book is to women like myself... #wellreadblackgirl 🖤
“And all this talk, over and over, of bravery: it would be nice one day if a public figure could talk about having depression without the media using words like 'incredible courage' and 'coming out'. Sure, it is well intentioned. But you shouldn't need to confess to having, say, anxiety. You should just be able to tell people. It's an illness. Like asthma or measles or meningitis. It's not a guilty secret. The shame people feel exacerbates symptoms. Yes, absolutely, people are often brave. But the bravery is in living with it, it shouldn't be in talking about it.” - 😩 I wanted to love this book so much. I really LOVED #reasonstostayalive which is why I quickly pre-ordered this one. But I am in a completely different head space reading this one then I was Reasons To Stay Alive. I am in a better headspace so it was such a different read for me... I liked it and enjoyed it, and would recommend it for those still trying to figure what’s going on in their heads.... . . . #notesonanervousplanet #bookstagram #februaryread
A friendly reminder... ✨ . . . For all the people who read books and think they’re opinion is the only opinion. And just because you find others that feel the same way you do does not mean that everyone else is “wrong”. We all bring different experiences to the books we read. We all can experience the same words on the pages differently... - #bookstagram
I love the library. I love it even more when I get popular new releases quickly.... 📚 . . . #bookstagram #libraryfinds #maidbook #wecastashadow
