So I maybe actually purchased this book last year with my Barnes and Nobles Settlement credit, and it maybe just sat around on my unused Nook for a year. Maybe.
Bookworm problems, so sue me.
The story is about a woman, Emma, who marries her high school sweetheart, Jessie. The two support each other in making life decisions they may not have made without one another. Then one day, on their first wedding anniversary, Jessie leaves never to be seen.
Fast forward a few years and Emma has quit her job and returned home. Home is somewhere she never wanted to be before leaving. While home she reconnects with an old friend, Sam. And then, one night the phone rings and it’s Jessie…
Overall, I liked this story. It was well written and will give you all the quote-unquote, feels. For me, the story is ultimately about the choices we make when we’re young and so full of life. So sure we know who we want and what we want out of this thing called life.
Emma ultimately has to chose between her past, present and future.
If you could tell your younger self how things turned out, do you think you’d still make the same choices? Do you still believe in everything you believed in when you were in high school?
This is a great beach or vacation read. And while light in nature, it definitely will make someone with some life experience think…
